The Unite Charity

Unite is the Children in Care Council for BCP. We work with children and young people in care to hear about their experience of being in care. With the work that we do we feedback to the decision makers to make changes that make it better for us and those that are coming into care.

The projects of the Unite Charity

We have a young people panel at interviews for potential employees that would like to work in children’s services. This includes social workers, independent reviewing officers, and most recently the chief Executive of the council.
We meet with newly qualified social workers and foster carers during their training to share what they can do that supports and impacts us most with the role that they are entering.

Style

The Unite Charity requested that we appeal our animation to young people between the ages of 12-17. As a result, we wanted to match the style of well known animation studios such as Pixar, Illumination and Dreamworks.

Style

These studios tend to use simple diffuse textures with saturated colours and smooth edges, as well as highly contrasted roughness maps. We intended to follow similar principles.

To further this effort, we also opted to make use of Pixar's Renderman render engine. This is optimised for this cartoony style as well as providing numerous other optimisations to speed up rendering.
